"Time to tear off another century!" | Name: Reginald E. Didge
Nicknames: Ridgy
Species: Opossum
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Alignment: Neutral good
Height: 3’7”
Build: 85 lbs
Residence: Meadowood
Occupation: Freelance archaeologist and historian.
Likes: Archaeology, ancient artifacts (particularly vases, dishes, etc.), spicy curry (vegetarian), long lectures about historic events, and pretty girls.
Dislikes: His inadequacies, Robotnik’s huge industrial complex, and being talked down to. He is also a strict vegetarian, as he dislikes even the smell of meat.
Hobbies/Talents: Taking after his father, Ridgy is devoted to archaeology and history. At times his knowledge of historical events is more complete than any of Mobius’ former leaders or royal family. He considers himself a scientist in his trade, and can actually apply his mind scientifically to any current situation based on any historical information he is aware of. He has a vast collection of ancient artifacts as a result of a lifetime of personal exploration. The largest part of his collection consists of pottery, out of a personal belief that what defines a person’s personality the most is how they were brought up to eat and drink.
Played By: Slomoto

Personality
Ridgy's lack of physical ability, his accident-prone nature, his tendency to have his head in the past, and his cocky attitude, despite any meaningful prowess to back it up, has turned him into a liability on missions. However, despite even his own common sense and need for self preservation, he is all too thrilled to cling to the side of a Freedom Fighter if one is in need of him. One of his more admirable qualities is his determination: he never gives up until he’s proven himself useful, at which he’ll contentedly go back to his dusty old trophy cases. Of course, this too is often mistaken for stubbornness. He also has a history of fawning over pretty girls: through his life he’s had many crushes, and his flavor-of-the-week admiration for a pretty young girl is a source of entertainment for many.
Deep down, Ridgy knows he’s not as important as he makes himself out to be. He overcompensates for his average abilities because he upholds a legacy held by his father, the famed archaeologist Ripper Didge, who was loved by others as much as he was admired by Ridgy himself. He inherited from his father something of a hopeless romanticism, which explains both his obsessions and his interest in the fairer sex. He learned from his father that what one doesn’t have in skill can be made up in determination, and Ridgy never fails to try really hard to continue in his father’s pursuits; discovering what was lost in Mobius’ distant past.
Abilities
Physical
Ridgy has significantly less in the physical abilities department than most other Mobians have. He is physically in good shape, but he has less than average stamina, and can only manage to stay fully energized for short bursts of time between gasps of air. For the most part, Ridgy only has what his natural animal form allows. He is a skilled climber and digger and he can see well in dark places. He also has a strong prehensile tail, which he uses to supplement his lack of physical abilities. For example, he is capable of climbing almost vertically with its help, and can use it to balance himself while crossing narrow cliff sides. He also fights almost exclusively by using his tail like a whip. However, though his tail is willing, his flesh is weak, and Ridgy struggles on missions since, not only is he of average strength, speed, and flexibility, he can often be rather un-coordinated and clumsy.
Learned
Ridgy has a learned instinct when it comes to sensing sudden changes in the environment like sudden footsteps, or the presence of running water. Some consider this to be useful when attempting to infiltrate Robotnik's fortresses. He is also very wise when it comes to Mobius’ history, its environment, etc, to go along with his proficiency as an archaeologist. He is capable of driving a ground vehicle, and is learning how to control flying ones, but he does not know how just yet. He also has an inexplicable ability that, despite his so-called bad luck, prevents him from being stuck in a fatal situation for too long.
Weaknesses
Ridgy is an infamous klutz. He is very ill-coordinated, he constantly trips over his own feet, he falls into water constantly even though he cannot swim, and he always picks the path that'll lead himself into certain danger. Any Freedom Fighter associated with him has a story about how he nearly compromised a situation by falling into an obvious trap or getting blindsided and captured by Robotnik’s troops. To make a bad situation worse, Ridgy is completely naive of the sheer dopiness he conveys while on a mission, believing himself instead to be a brave and shrewd adventurer, or at least that’s what he makes others think. Ridgy's natural intelligences also never extend to anything more technologically savvy than a car engine, and while he believes he's good at dealing with computer systems, he'll most likely make just as big a mess of those as well.
History
Pre-RP
Ridgy and his father, Ripper Didge, were originally residents of Mobotropolis. Ripper was once a member of the royal court’s brain trust, and was on an excavation along with his son when Robotnik’s coup occurred. The two of them traveled north to Mercia, where whey lived for a brief time until Robotnik’s forces again attacked. Threatened with capture, Ripper sacrificed himself and was killed by Robotnik’s forces while Ridgy was gathered by the escaping mass and taken to Meadowood. A few years later, Ridgy returned to the ruins at great risk to re-capture anything of his father’s that was left behind. He was able to find his father’s pith helmet, and various artifacts in a mock-museum before he was captured by Robotnik’s army. Fortunately, he was saved moments later by a team of Robert’s freedom fighters before he was put in the roboticizer. This began both Ridgy’s tenuous relationship with the freedom fighters, and Ridgy’s determination to follow in his father’s footsteps. Since then, Ridgy has wedged himself into many other missions seeking only to find more relics…always searching…maybe if only to find his father once again.
Post RP
Nothing too significant yet.
Misc. Info
Ridgy is hardly a cook, but he does know one recipe for a spicy vegetable curry that is so hot he's so far the only one who can stand to eat it.
