Name: Shadow the Hedgehog, once referred to as "Project Shadow" Nicknames: Shadow, Shads, "Short, Dark and Gloomy" Species: Chimera of hedgehog and Black Arms. Mostly Hedgehog. Gender: Male Age: Over 50. He doesn't really seem to age. Alignment: Neutral, leaning towards Dark Type: Speed Team: n/a Height: Almost identical to Sonic, about 3'3" Build: Again, almost identical to Sonic, but weighs about 77 lbs Residence: None, but tends to spend a lot of time on the ARK Occupation: Wandering Jerk Anti-Hero Likes: Maria, Professor Gerald (as his creator), Rouge, proving he IS the best, heavy metal and rock music (discovered this recently), having the Chaos Emeralds with him, and being left alone Dislikes: Anyone who can rival him, Black Doom, having the Chaos Emeralds taken/otherwise not in his possession, having to ask for directions somewhere, or admitting ANY kind of mistake. Hobbies/Talents: Brooding. And sometimes he raises Chao, although he tends to forget about them, leaving it in other hands to raise them. Personality

Shadow puts on the persona of acting rather tough and egotistical. Well, that's mostly because he IS tough and egotistical. He often boasts that he is the Ultimate Lifeform, and believes the statement to be fact. He also feels he's the only person worthy of possessing and using the Chaos Emeralds. However, Shadow is not without a heart. It's there. Just very well hidden.

Sometimes, Shadow feels a little lost, considering his only REAL frame of reference on how things are/should be is 50 years out of date. He won't admit it though, so comes off as rather annoyed at... just about everything.

Also, although it doesn't seem that way, he doesn't particularly enjoy needlessly hurting people. Events just usually MAKE it necessary.

Finally... in regards to Maria... Shadow, although he's come to terms with his past to a degree, still blames himself for not being able to protect her. Seeing as she was his BEST and possibly ONLY friend aboard the ARK, he misses her more than he likes to admit. At times, he even questions himself, wondering if Maria would be happy seeing him like he is now... He doesn't like the answers he gets.

 

Abilities

Physical

Shadow is, like all hedgehogs, able to curl up into a ball and roll, letting his quills protect him.

He's also capable of running at high speeds, but can't match Sonic's speeds without his skates.

And finally he also possesses a natural ability for using the Chaos Emeralds from his Black Arms heritage.

 

Learned

At some point aboard the ARK, Shadow learned learned how to perform the Spindash, and even propel himself through the air to use Homing Attacks. He's since gained add-ons to his shoes that allow him to light-dash across lines of rings.

Recently, however, he learned how to accelerate himself through the air, and create a tornado around a target. Useful, no?

And presumably during his stay aboard the ARK, Shadow received some unarmed combat training, as well as EXTENSIVE firearms training. He also learned to drive. Probably out of boredom at some point.

 

Chaos/Sol

Chaos Control- Can use Chaos Energy to warp space and time, allowing him to teleport, or just slow down time.

Chaos Spear- Can create up to 6 spears of energy, sometimes in midair, that fly towards a target. He prefers firing a single Spear from his hand, and charging it up.

Chaos Blast- Big. Freaking. Boom.

Super Shadow- Shadow gains abilities like Super Sonic, and turns a White-Goldish color. The stripe on his head also loses some length during this.

 

Weaknesses

Shadow can NOT swim. At ALL. He sinks like a rock, unfortunately. He also has issues with people who do things better than he does, and loses his temper rather quickly when his superiority is questioned.

He used to have crippling flashbacks, but they've become less of an issue since he's come to terms with his past. He still has them every now and then, though.

 

History

Pre-RP

Shadow as created from the blood of Black Doom over 50 years ago aboard Space Colony Ark by Professor Gerald Robotnik, the biolizard being his prototype. He befriended the professor's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik and developed somewhat of a bond towards her during his days aboard the colony. Unfortunately, Shadow's happy days were cut short when the military boarded the colony to shut down the project. The hedgehog managed to escape unscathed, but Maria, however... Her name was among the names of those who died in the tragedy aboard the colony.

 

The hedgehog was sealed away for 50 years in GUN's base where he was later released by Dr Eggman (Gerald's other grandchild). He lead Eggman to Space Colony Ark's Eclipse Cannon, and helped him collect the seven Chaos Emeralds in order to power it. During this time, he encounter Sonic several times and unintentionally succeeded in framing the hero for his thefts. Eventually, all of the emeralds were collected, but the cannon didn't work like it was originally thought to. It instead caused the colony to fall down towards the earth in an attempt to destroy it; a revenge plan laid out by Professor Gerald himself in his final Days. After being persuaded by Amy Rose, Shadow helped Sonic and Co. fight his prototype and save the earth. Shadow, unfortunately fell to his death after the battle, or so we thought.

 

Eggman sent one of his robots to rescue Shadow before he fell to his death, and sealed him in a pod in one of his labs. Rouge during one of her later journeys discovered Shadow, along with Omega, sealed in the lab and left with them to figure out what was going on. They were later talked into helping Sonic fight a deranged version of Metal Sonic, then went their separate ways.

 

Shadow was of course left wondering about his past for quite some time. Then one day, Black Doom arrived as the Black Arms began invading the planet. He asked Shadow to gather the Chaos Emeralds for him "as promised". The befuddled hedgehog followed the alien monster's orders, curious about his past.

 

Eventually he fought Black Doom in the form of Devil Doom as Super Shadow, and defeated the monster. Then he diverted the Black Comet from the planet and launched it into orbit where it was destroyed by the Eclipse Cannon.
