Personality
Shaun is your typical bookish fellow. He is rather modest about his intellect (unless you insult him), and prefers to stay in the background and let others face the limelight. He is usually pretty quiet to strangers, but gladly talks his mouth off to his friends. His constant reading of classic novels has given him a rather Romanticist view of the world, and he loves nothing more than setting out on an expedition to see it all.

Physical
A relatively good climber, light on his feet (when he isn't tripping over them... see below), sharp hearing, can be stealthy when need be
Learned
Has learned almost all there is to know about surviving in the wild. If there were the Boy Scouts in Sonic's world, he'd have the Eagle Scout Award easily. Also, he's great at figuring stuff out and is well educated in the academics. Although he's hesitant to do it (as they aren't fully grown yet), he can do a antler charge, impaling anyone or anything that gets in his way. Finally, he's a good swimmer, but he doesn't like to do it in open waters (he's afraid of sharks).

Weaknesses
A wimp and a coward (although he's able to compose himself better than, say, Antoine does), seems to be a magnet to getting picked on, a klutz and very accident prone, arachnophobia (which, unfortunately, also applies to anthros, making him a bit species-ist towards spider/scorpion characters... he's trying to work on it, though)
History
Pre-RP
Shaun grew up in
Emerald Town, having a relatively normal childhood. However, rather than go outside and play sports with the other kids, he would rather stay inside, curling up with a good book about the exciting world beyond his hometown. His parents didn't mind this all that much, since it certainly helped with his schoolwork (he was pretty much a straight-A student) but they were just a tad worried that he might not make too many friends this way. They were correct in their assumption: He was considered the "loner nerd" for most of his elementary/middle school life.
Things changed in high school, however. He eventually met a few friends who shared his same interests in exploring the world out there. They were Matt the Wolf, Nate the Ferret, and Liz the Lizard. Since the school system in Sonic's world isn't nearly as rigid as our own (how do you think characters like Tails and Charmy have so much time to go on their crazy adventures?), they all agreed that once school let out, they'd set off to see what was out there. Shaun wanted to be the leader of the expedition, but Nate eventually claimed that role, while Shaun stuck to being the navigator/research guy. Regardless, the foursome soon set off, ready for an exciting adventure...
... Or so they thought. Unfortunately, they almost immediately had a nasty encounter with... something... He's not quite sure what attacked them, but something attacked the group, knocking him out. When he came to, he was in a hospital... Alone.
... Except for an odd fellow by the name of Blockhead Bill, who for reasons unknown was sleeping in a chair in his hospital room. While he had no clue who the armadillo was, Shaun decided to ask for his assistance in finding his friends. Bill quickly agreed, and the two set off on an epic quest to find Shaun's friends!
Little did Shaun know how... eccentric... Blockhead Bill was...
